Goals And Skills
Here is a list of goals and skills that I would like to have accomplished and developed in the next year.
GOAL ONE: Getting to University
In October 2020, I applied for University in 5 different places. I got 3 conditional offers and 2 unconditional. One of the unconditional offers were from Cardiff. This year, 2021, I will be going to Cardiff, to take a Film course. In 1 years time,
I want to be pushing myself the best I can to succeed within my career.
GOAL TWO: Be an Extra in a film
One of my top career goals for media, is to be an extra within a film. This is so I can be behind the scenes of a major movie set, to help me gain experience. Within the past two weeks, I have been researching different websites and companies to apply for an extra job. An example for this is (CastingCollective.co.uk), 2 roles fitted my profile so I applied for them. As of yet, I have not had any replies, but if I'm consistent with applying, hopefully by the end of the year I will be accepted.
GOAL THREE: Gain 10,000 followers on Tik Tok
A personal goal of mine is to get to 10,000 followers on TikTok. At the moment, I am on 1800 followers which I have gained in 2 months. It is my goal to reach that number, as at 10K followers I can get a creator fund where I am payed to do my videos. As it is something I enjoy doing, being payed would be an added bonus. On my account, I post film edits which I first created to practise my transition editing. When I found out people enjoyed the edits, I started posting more and more until I gained a steady growth of followers and likes on my profile. Editing does take up a lot of my evenings, as I post one video every night. Because I'm so consistent, I want this to become a sideline job to provide me money for University.
SKILL ONE: Communication
One skill I need to improve on is my communication to a room or crowd. For the commissioning process, you have to present a power point to a room of people. I am great at talking to one other individual but when faced with more than 2 sets of eyes, I panic. It is important that I improve in this sector, if I wish to become a future Director. To improve, I will do mock commissions and push myself at university to be more confident.
SKILL TWO: Editing using Premiere Pro
I have basic knowledge of how to use Premiere Pro. Because I am going to uni, I am expected to be able to use the software in an advanced manner. To help build up my skills, I will follow tutorials from the software company and YouTube. Doing this will hopefully improve my editing for my future projects.
SKILL THREE: Time Management
A big struggle for me, in terms of skills, is my time management for projects. With my anxiety and depression, I struggle to motivate myself to begin working. For most of my projects, I end up completing them last minute then feel really guilty about it as I always need extensions. My goal for a years time, is to not ask for one extension and to get into a routine of working daily, instead of panicking at the last moments.
